It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our sister Joan Patricia Campbell, at Deerview Lodge in Wawota, Saskatchewan on December 9, 2018. Joan was born in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan on July 3, 1941.

In the summer of 1941 Edna and George Campbell chose this angelic baby to be their own at the Regina General Hospital.
Joan’s life was fraught with various disabilities but this never slowed down her enthusiasm for life. She loved music, dancing and fun times with numerous friends she made when she went to live in Redvers, Sask. She met her best friend in the world there, “Tom”, whom she enjoyed a lasting relationship with until his passing. Her friendships with Adrienne and Karen lasted her lifetime. They shared a common struggle to be independent and to be recognized as contributing members of society, each with their own goals and dreams.

Joan moved into the Deerview Lodge in Wawota in 2007. She made many more friendships with the staff that cared for her. She especially enjoyed bantering with the maintenance man, the mailman and the cook. Her laughter, opinions, and endless queries were her trademark.

So many people brought joy and friendship to Joan’s life. Betty Ann Eisler, and Lorinda Jones are two that we knew of and there were many we did not know by name.
Joan was the eldest child in our family, and will be missed by her brothers Leonard Campbell (Sheila), Richard Matte ( Penny) and sister Brenda Avlonitis.

Joan never let her many health problems dampen her joy of life and living. She will be missed and forever remembered by her family and friends. Rest in peace dear sister, your struggles are over.
Thank you to the staff and friends that cared for Joan during her 11 years in Deerview Lodge. You each contributed to her well being in so many ways.

There will be a family gathering for an internment at a later date.
