Derek was born and raised in Moosomin. He spent his 23 years trying to make people smile. It is hard to describe Derek because he was so many different things to so many different people.
Derek was an actor, a taxi driver, a perfect rhymer, a joke teller, a truck crasher, a tinkerer, a camper, a bullshitter, an arguer, a deal maker, a game player and a visitor. But most of all, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a grandson, a nephew, a cousin and a friend. He was the best.
Derek was predeceased by his father Grant and his grandparents Stanley and Kathleen Crellin. He is survived by his loving mother Deb, his sister Krista Crellin (Devon Taylor) and their children Avery and Evann, his brother Dean, his sister Kayla Miller (Jared); his grandparents Fred and Linda Addison and by his aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
A memorial service took place on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at the Moosomin Armory Hall, Moosomin, Saskatchewan. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation or to the Ronald McDonald Foundation, in memory of Derek.
