It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved companion, brother, Papa, Mooshum and Coco– Chico Tourond on Friday, February 1, 2019. Chico passed away peacefully in his sleep, at home at the pond.
Chico was born in Moosomin, the youngest of 13 children. Chico was a proud Metis man who served his community for many years. He was a talented carpenter who has left a legacy in the many homes, buildings and projects built here in Rocanville and area, as well as in the many cities that he called home.
He was an avid sports fan, and could often be found watching some of his favorite teams, the Chicago Blackhawks or the Bears, the Blue Jays and of course the Riders. He loved spending time with his family and friends at the pond, or beating everyone on the golf course.
Over the past 10 years he has dedicated many hours of service to the AA community, where he has made many close friends. He will be deeply missed.
Chico was predeceased by his parents George and Marie Jeanne; sisters Elizabeth, Marie and Rose; brothers Vincent, John, Alfred, Gerard and Paul; nephews Darren and Leslie; brothers-in-law Glen Lowdon and Jack Shopland, and sister-in-law Cathy. He is survived by his companion Bridie Ott; by daughter Tresley Tourond-Bouvier (Derek); by stepchildren Maya Henwood (Mitchell), and Isaiah Ott (Veronique); by sister Georgina Lowdon; and brothers George Jr., Pat (Lorna), and Joe (Jeanne); by brothers-in-law John Egyed and Doug Barber; sisters-in-law Margaret Shopland and Bev LaRose; and by grandchildren Jovie, Jaxon, Neve; Ava, Elyse, Seren, Ryder, Alexandre and Xavier; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He will be deeply missed.
Prayers were held at 7 pm on Friday, February 8. The service was held at 11 am on Saturday, February 9, both at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church in Rocanville.
