
Violet passed away peacefully on March 10, 2019, in Vernon, B.C.
Violet was born in Silver Lake, Manitoba to Anne and John Melnyk. She grew up in Silver Lake and Birtle area along with eight siblings.
She first started working in Birtle, Manitoba in her late teens but eventually moved to Winnipeg, Man., where she met her husband, Chester Sheane. They were married on June 28, 1958.
She had son, Jack Skeates, in 1941, from a previous marriage.
Violet loved going to the Big Whiteshell Lake where she “fished off the rock” and spent hours picking blueberries.
After her late husband passed away, she decided to move to Vernon, B.C. in 2012, to be near her son.
She remained in Vernon until her passing in March, 2019.
Violet is survived by her son Jack Skeates (Fran), sister Pauline, grandson Doug, as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Violet was cremated on March 12, 2019, in Vernon, B.C.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 10, 2019, at 1 pm at the South Side Cemetary in Moosomin, Saskatchewan, where her ashes will be interred next to her husband. A open house tea will follow at the McTavish Farm.
