Shirley June Davidson, of McAuley, Manitoba, beloved wife of the late Dale Davidson and loving mother of Dwayne and Lori, passed away at Arcola Health Centre on April 3, 2021 at the age of 76 years.

Shirley was born June 20, 1944 to Olive and Lloyd Merkley in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan where her father was a chef and her mother worked at Bessborough Hotel. She cherished memories of these times.

The family later moved to Wainwright, Alberta for the duration of her childhood after which in 1961 she moved to Virden, Manitoba and worked in Ernie’s grocery store. It was there she met the love of her life, Dale, and in 1963 they married. Together they had their two children, Dwayne in 1964 and Lori in 1967. From 1964 to 2021 Shirley lived in McAuley, Manitoba which she very much loved and considered her “forever” home.

She enjoyed many things such as knitting, cards, watching cooking shows and game shows and never missed curling on tv. Her one passion was cooking and canning, especially things from her own garden. Shirley did a lot of volunteer work for the local clubs, but her greatest and proudest accomplishment was her career. She worked for Avon for five years before going into and working for the McAuley Credit Union for over 25 years.

She enjoyed travelling with family in her younger years and after retirement continued to travel to visit family. She had a long hard battle with her health.

Shirley was predeceased by her husband Dale, her parents and her sister Debra Morgan-Cote.

She leaves behind her son Dwayne (Sharon), Derek (Alannah), Ava and Alexis; Quintin (Alyssa); her daughter Lori (Brad), Amanda (Taylor), Annessa (Landon), Henley and Payton (Brett), an aunt, two sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

A family graveside service was held at McAuley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, tributes may be made to the McAuley Church Building Fund, Box 213 McAuley, in memory of Shirley.
