At the Moosomin Chamber of Commerce meeting on Tuesday, Tia Cedarstrand with Third Avenue on Main was presented with the Young Entrepreneur Bursary.
Cedarstrand was one of 57 young entrepreneurs in 48 communities across the province who received $5,000 under the new provincial bursary program. The government of Saskatchewan is providing the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce with nearly $1 million over three years to deliver the program. This year 326 people applied for the funding.
“We had lots of applications from the local area here, we are very fortunate to have a lot of young entrepreneurs starting up, and across the province there were 57 businesses that were selected for this award by the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce, and here in Moosomin our winner is Third Avenue on Main,” announced Moosomin Chamber of Commerce President and Moosomin-Montmartre MLA Kevin Weedmark.
“Congratulations, it’s an amazing new business that has filled a spot on Main Street. It’s a wonderful story of a community coming together because you had a person who had all of the skills to take on the business, and you had some investors who came in to help her get started. It’s just an amazing business and I want to say congratulations to Tia.”
Cedarstrand was presented with a cheque for $5,000 at the meeting on Tuesday. The bursary is meant to help entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 35 get their businesses off the ground.
