Town of Esterhazy closes facilities to the public

Council hopes move will help curb outbreak

The town of Esterhazy is closing the town office and town facilities for the next week to help battle a Covid-19 outbreak in the community.

Starting at 8 am Friday October 8 and continuing until 5 pm Thursday, October 14, the town office will be closed to the public except by appointment, and the Dana Antal Arena and SN Boreen Centre will be closed to the public.

"Due to the high volume of confirmed cases and outbreaks in the area, we would like to assist our local health care facilities, schools, and the general community as a whole," the town said in a notice to residents.

"To assist the entire community to curve these cases, please remember to tollow the guidelines set out by the Government of Saskatchewan as it relates to masking, distancing, handwashing, sanitation, etc. throughout the community."

The town said it is closing the facilities as a precautionary measure.

In addition, Esterhazy High School has been closed for in-person learning since September 27 because of an outbreak at the school
