Southeast College, Advanced Education Minister at June 24 Chamber meeting

Southeast College President Jody Holzmiller will present at the June 24 meeting of the Moosomin Chamber of Commerce.
The college had announced earlier this year plans to give up its lease on its Moosomin location.
Since then the college has reconsidered its course offerings in the Moosomin area and at the Chamber meeting, Holzmiller will present on the college’s plan to re-engage with the community of Moosomin, build a relationship with the community and provide programming for the community and the region.
Cheveldayoff to speak
Advanced Education Minister Ken Cheveldayoff will also speak at the meeting on the role of regional colleges. Cheveldayoff has been an MLA for 21 years and is currently the longest-serving elected representative in the Saskatchewan Legislature. He was named Minister of Advanced Education in November of 2024.
Moosomin Steelhawks
Blake Martyniuk of the Moosomin Steelhawks will speak at the June meeting of the Moosomin Chamber of Commerce. The new Junior B team is an expansion team in the Prairie Junior Hockey League and will start playing in the 2025-26 season.
Basketball Court
Jeff Skulmoski will provide an update on the progess of Terry Lynd Court. The new outdoor basketball court is being developed near the pool.
Parking plan
Doug Creighton of the Crate House will speak on a plan for improving parking in downtown Moosomin.
The plan involves adding parking spaces along Broadway Avenue to address the lack of parking in downtown Moosomin.
Citizens on Patrol
There will also be a presentation on efforts to get a local Citizens on Patrol group organized in Moosomin. Napoleon Mactal will speak on efforts to organize the group.
The June meeting of the Chamber of Commerce is set for 11:45 am on Tuesday, June 24 in the meeting room of the Canalta Hotel in Moosomin.
Lunch will be served.
