The Carlyle District Lions Club brought the community together for an evening of food, fundraising and entertainment at their supper and auction on April 18. The event took place at the Carlyle Sports Arena, and it was once again highlighted with the generosity that defines the town.

Ward Cutler, a world renowned auctioneer, came to his 26th supper and auction.

Held on the packed arena floor, it was filled with laughter and conversation with the evening beginning with a supper served by Wier’s Catering. Before the meal could take place, a quick auction was held to see who out the 600 attending were the first to eat. The winning table also got to choose who was going to eat last. Carlyle Pharmasave took the winning bid, and they chose Legacy Pharmacist to eat last.

The Lions Club, known for its dedication to community service, ensured every detail was taken care of, creating a welcoming atmosphere from the moment people walked through the doors.

Doc Walker and his band entertained the energetic crowd keeping the dance floor hopping.

As plates were cleared, attention turned to the much-anticipated auction. A wide variety of items from local and area residents and businesses was up for grabs, but one needed to place the highest bid in order to take the item home. Lions stood out on the floor taking bids and making sure no one was left out.

Tim Sedor is the President of the Carlyle District Lions Club and the chairman of the event, and he welcomed and thanked everyone for coming.

Each winning bid represented more than just a purchase; it was a direct investment in local initiatives that make a meaningful difference for the community, as all the funds raised will be returned to the community in some form or another. Last year $52,100 was given back to local groups.

The highlight of the evening came when acclaimed country artist Doc Walker took the stage. Haling from Westbourne, Manitoba, Doc Walker has become one of Canada’s most celebrated country bands.

The award-winning group delivered a high energy performance that had the crowd tapping their feet, singing along, and filling the dance floor. Known for their blend of heartfelt lyrics and classic country sound, Doc Walker brought a professional and engaging show that elevated the night into a full-scale celebration.

Lions volunteers were everywhere. These members offered raffle tickets and numbers for the live auction.

The after party was taken care of by DJ Dale Orsted. He kept the crowd alive with his wide selection of music and took the party to new heights.

The combination of great food, spirited bidding, and top-tier entertainment made the Lions supper and Auction a resounding success. Beyond the dollars raised, the event reinforced the importance of coming together, all for the betterment of Carlyle and the surrounding areas.

A raffle table lined the south wall of the arena floor giving guests the opportunity to go home with a prize.
