Whitewood male arrested for cattle theft

On June 28, 2024, a Saskatchewan RCMP Livestock Investigator received a report from Livestock Services of Saskatchewan (LSS) about a potential suspicious livestock transaction. Moosomin RCMP began investigating with the assistance of the Saskatchewan RCMP Livestock Investigator.
 
Investigation determined 14 calves had been stolen from a farm in the RM of Silverwood, SK over the course of three different incidents.

Further investigation determined an adult male stole the calves and attempted to sell them. Seven calves have since been recovered and returned to the farm.
 
As a result of continued investigation, on July 12 an adult male was arrested at a residence near Whitewood, SK.
 
34-year-old Ryan Bennett from the Whitewood, SK area is charged with:

• three counts, theft of cattle over $5,000, Section 338(2), Criminal Code;

• three counts, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code; and

• three counts, trafficking property obtained by crime over $5,000, Section 355.2, Criminal Code.
 
Ryan Bennett is scheduled to appear in court in Moosomin on August 20, 2024 (Information #90549293).
